March 8, 2008

Attendees:   Gerard Labbe, Shawn Ouellette, Rab St. Germaine, Bob Dunn, Allison Sovetsky, Anne Tripp,

Fr.  David Robinson, Myrtle Miller, Peg Gautier, Claire Ganter, Clark Lewis, Pat Sampson

Absent: Lisa Mandabach, Doug Morgan

Call to Order: Gerard called the meeting to order at 7:03 p.m. with the opening prayer.

Gospel Reflections:  John 11:1-45

A motion was made, seconded and adopted to approve the agenda as revised.

A motion was made, seconded and adopted to approve the February minutes.  Copy on file.

Old Business:  Suggestions for Trinity’s Mission Statement were reviewed.  Fr. David suggested that our future vision should include “Where do we want to go and hoping to be” and “What are we about”?  We want “to make it sweet, short and concise”.  The goal is to make our statement specific to Trinity Church and identify ourselves as different from other churches.  Gerard, Claire Ganter and Allison will compose a draft statement to incorporate as many as possible main points under consideration:  friendship, outreach, social justice, training of children, Christ centered, spiritual home, healing, and joyful.

Mark Cardullo is Publicity Coordinator for Trinity.  Since joining a Press Release Service media releases will be more widely distributed for our upcoming events.  Submissions may be sent to Mark at mcardullo@gwi.com.  Also, articles involving activities of our members or ministries should be publicized.

Trinity’s Website is in the process of being upgraded to enable more space for pictures and other updates.  A company known as Digital Faith coordinates individual church websites and our web master is using their services.

New Business:  Rab St. Germaine and Allison Sovetsky volunteered to co-chair the Summer Fair on July 19.

Stewardship Committee Update:  On Sunday, March 30 a Mission Fair will be held during which our various ministries will be represented to encourage new sign-ups for their activities.  It will be considered a “Time and Talent” commitment.

Rector’s Report: Fr. David conducted an evaluation of our recent “Bring Someone to Church Day”.   There were several “good points” as well as “need to work-on points”.  In general, we hope to conduct this type of event again and improve on some aspects.

Upcoming calendar events for March and April were discussed.  We will be having a Turkey Dinner in April but the date is uncertain.  New ideas for summer services and events are being solicited.

The raffle of David Ganter’s coffee table will be held in May.  More information will be in the April Trumpet.  Claire Ganter and Myrtle Miller will coordinate ticket sales.

At 9:00 p.m. a motion was made, seconded and passed to extend the meeting 15 minutes more.

Sr. Warden’s Report: Gerard has posted all new schedules for various responsibilities on the website.

Jr. Warden’s Report:  Clark Lewis said various repairs have been done recently.  On April 13 the Property Committee will meet to review what needs to be taken care of such as the ice on the roof, the kitchen hood, and the casement window over the sink in the kitchen.

Treasurer’s Report:  Myrtle said “pledges are down but the plate is up”.  We are receiving $625 a month from the Diocese towards the grant for the roof replacement.  We will receive a total of $7500 from the Diocese this year.  We had to borrow from the Capital Campaign to cover payroll this week.  Various payments are due in the near future, including the assessment, and there is no money to pay them.

See handout titled: “Profit and Loss Budget vs Actual:  January through February 2008”.

A motion was made, seconded and adopted to receive the Treasurer’s Report.

The meeting was adjourned at 9:17 p.m. with a closing prayer.

Respectfully submitted,

Pat Sampson, Clerk of the Vestry
